About the Author

Daniel Eckstein, Ph.D. is an associate professor in the Department of Educational Leadership & Counseling, Sam Houston St. University, Huntsville, Texas. He is a former President of NASAP (North American Society for Adlerian Psychology) and associate faculty for the Department of Education Sciences, Eastern Mediterranean University, N. Cyprus. He was previously Director of Organization Development for the Adler School of Professional Psychology, Toronto. Dr. Eckstein is author of 18 books, including the Canadian Best Seller Raising Respectful Kids in a Rude World (a selection of the Behavioral Science Book Club); Leadership by Encouragement; and Psychological Fingerprints; Lifestyle Assessment; A Thematic Perspective to Lifespan Development.

Since 1993 he has also written a quarterly column for The Family Journal featuring questionnaires and activities couples and families can complete together. This summer his new book called The Couples Match Book: "Activities for Lighting, Kindling or Extinguishing the Flame" Activities for Couples and Families will be available from National Social Science Press.

His inspirational story of a formative seventh grade teacher was also selected for inclusion in Chicken Soup for the Teacher's Soul.

Dr. Eckstein has a diplomate in Adlerian studies and was presented a plaque for distinguished contributions from the North American Society for Adlerian Psychology.

Prior to becoming a psychologist he was a college football All-American; he played two years of professional football with the Green Bay Packers, the Hamilton (Ontario) Tiger-Cats, and the Miami Dolphins.
